This year, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, the doors of our beautiful monuments will be wide open to take you on a special journey – completely free! This year’s theme, ‘On the Road’, highlights not only the physical routes through our historic city, but also the fascinating stories and innovations that have shaped Breda over the centuries.
Imagine: you walk through the atmospheric streets of Breda, every corner reveals a new story, a hidden treasure or a piece of forgotten history. From the medieval stories that come to life via QR codes on the Heritage Stories Route, to the exciting Family Safari at dusk, there is something for everyone to discover. Children will enjoy a ride on the historic horse tram, while adults can enjoy a nostalgic ride in an authentic DAF33 during the Dafjes Tour.
But it is not only history that inspires us along the way. Breda is constantly transforming, as you will see during the De Nieuwe Mark excursion, where industry makes way for a green, vibrant urban development.
