Herbal knowledge is an ancient craft passed down from generation to generation.
The history of herb books goes back thousands of years and is closely linked to the early development of herbal medicine and botany.
During this walk we will delve into the rich history of the garden once tended by the Breda Beguines. Here famous and infamous plants that are part of the green heritage are revealed. Mandy den Elzen tells how man has made use of the plant kingdom through the ages. And about the role of the garden in the life of the Beguines and how they were used over the centuries.
Led by Mandy den Elzen, you will go on a botanical journey of discovery through the gardens of the Beguinage. Participants will be given a sketchbook and a pencil to make sketches and notes of the specific characteristics of some of the plants growing in the courtyards.
There will be a guided tour of the gardens.
Tours will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
