Duylen Cemetery Park is nearly 200 years old and 13 acres in size. The park has several functions. First and foremost, it is a memorial park, with very varied options for burial and ashes disposal. The funerary culture is interesting and the park is a history book of Breda. In addition, it is a green park that has an increasingly rich biodiversity. It also houses a number of special works of art that can be discovered via an art trail.

Guided tour and route
Visitors can walk a number of routes both with a guide and on their own. These range from a bee route to routes along special features and past structures.

Installation Hexapus
Hexapus is a collaboration between sculptor Iris Bouwmeester and composer Dyane Donck. Together they develop installations in which music and image are completely intertwined.
This installation focuses on a mysterious, sculptural hexapus. The arms of this hybrid six-legged creature gently tap shapes made of different materials such as metal, glass and porcelain. These taps echo in space like a mysterious communication signal.
When you put on headphones, a second layer unfolds: a musical composition that incorporates the taps into a wondrous soundscape. What first seemed random suddenly takes on meaning: as if you suddenly understand the language of the creature. Hexapus explores how we communicate, playing with the boundary between organic and mechanical and evoking an alienating, almost post-apocalyptic feeling.
The installation (about 10 min) can be experienced continuously throughout the weekend at Begraafpark Zuylen.
